Poster by Ben Shahn (1898 – 1969) for the CIO Political Action Committee. In July 1943 the CIO PAC was established to support Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1944 presidential campaign. After the election the CIO maintained PAC as its permanent political action apparatus until the CIO merged with the American Federation of Labor in 1955. The CIO PAC, funded by member contributions, supported pro-labor legislation, and provided financial assistance to CIO-endorsed candidates.
There are three tears in the poster, as well as several crease lines. Political efforts never have run smooth.
