Initial investigation discovered heavy dirt on the surface that was caused by soot from a fire, and several cracks in the paint film. However, once the restoration started we found old spatters across the surface. A more complex job meant we were able to help the painting in more ways than we had expected. Deep cleaning really brought out the colors, and the new, custom frame we made in a Louis XVI style, uncarved, and with 22 karat gold, really helped to underscore those colors.
