This work by Mazzonovich came in with extensive craquelures as well as a mold and fungal invasion. The work was done on plywood, which is a material that is harder to work with and will present more challenges in the restoration, but we are confident in our abilities, and can’t wait to see what it will look like once complete. Stay tuned for more . . .
Lawrence Mazzanovich (1871 – 1959) received his education at the Art Institute of Chicago followed by the Art Student’s League of New York. First working in Westport, Connecticut, Mazzanovich would move to Tyson, North Carolina, where he found great inspiration in the Blue Ridge Mountains. His landscapes are known for their striking colors.
I have a landscape painting on plywood by T J Koch dated 1933. I was told he did this painting for my aunt. My father had it for years and I am interested in learning more about the painting and the artist, The painting appears to be in good condition. My mother had it cleaned some years ago.
Thank you.
