Circa 1850 nautical painting restored and framed

From 1850 or 1860 and unsigned, this nautical painting has both steamboats and sailing vessels on Long Island Sound. After cleaning the painting, we created a Louis XIII-style uncarved frame, which has a soft shape that draws the viewer into the scene of the busy harbor. The frame, which is typical of what would have been used in both Europe and America when the painting was done, is finished in 22-karat gold leaf.
